HUD considering work requirements for federal housing assistance

(RECAP: The Trump administration last month gave states the option to add work requirements as a condition of receiving Medicaid benefits, and a leaked document showing potential changes in legislation drafted by HUD suggests a similar requirement for federal housing help is in the works. Under the legislation outlined in the document, HUD proposes an optional work requirement of up to 32 hours per week per adult benefiting from housing vouchers, public housing, or project-based rental help.)

Miriam’s House works to end homelessness by connecting families with affordable housing

(RECAP: In January, Miriam’s House received $100,000 from the state after former Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced the state’s Housing Trust Fund would give $1.1 million in Homeless Reduction Grants for 13 projects in Virginia. Miriam’s House was one of them and the only program in the Lynchburg area to receive a grant. Since the inception of the nonprofit’s Community First program, it has re-housed 333 people — 143 adults and 190 children — in the Lynchburg area.)
